“I’m currently reaching the end of my second year at college and I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want to do with the rest of my life. Mostly because I’ve been continuously asked about it by teachers, my parents, family friends… basically any adult in general. And it’s really starting to annoy me because people seem to think that you’re not going to have a good future if you don’t pass certain exams or if you don’t go to University or something like that, when, technically, that’s not true. Sure, good grades help, but they don’t shape a great life. You don’t need A’s to be happy, despite the overwhelming concept that seems to have attached itself to every teenager around the world. It’s perfectly okay to not know what the hell you’re doing and it’s more than okay to admit it. I like being able to say, “I don’t know yet but I’m excited to find out”. You are more than capable of bending and snapping other people’s expectations. If you want something enough, you’re going to get it. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, or even in a year. But you will. And the great thing is, it’s completely up to you. So, if you’re like me, a teenager who isn’t going to leave college with flying colours, that’s okay. I just want to be young and have fun and learn and grow, and figure all the serious stuff out later. Don’t focus so much on money or superficial success, because although it might be able to buy you a huge house and flashy cars and weekend mini breaks, I’m not going to care about all that if I’m not completely happy. I need my soul and my spirit to be happy for everything else to fall into place. Trust me.There is so much more to living than this.”
